I am not sure if you ever saw the movie Long Gone. By far the best baseball movie ever. Stud Cantrell,played by Grissom of CSI, is a pitcher in the 60's south. A black man, Joe Brown, comes for a tryout. Stud who is the main player on the team, the Tampico Stoogies, is throwing batting practice to Joe Brown, Brown is hitting everything a country mile. Stud says,"Enough of this and asks Brown do you want the White meat or the Dark meat?" Brown who is a happy go lucky guy says,"It don't matter I eat'em both" and proceeds to hit the next pitch off the scoreboard. This is a great movie, I recommend to anyone. There is a hot chick, a guy that looks like uncle Kevin and Stud Cantrell who has enough lines to write a book. This is a must see movie. I remember watching this on HBO in the late eighties. It came on ESPN classics a few months ago and I enjoyed it just as much 15 years later. A true classic that doesn't get the credit it so truly deserves. It is 10X better than Field of Dreams or Bull Durham.
Classic. This was an HBO original movie and they aired it constantly. Dixie Lee Box was the hot-chick, played by Virginia Madsen and Dermot Mulrooney played Jamie Don Weeks. Stud was one of the best movie characters ever. I can still remember the song te "Jose" Brown sang... "Well I'm big Joe Brown gonna sing me a song, About a baseball team that can't do know wrong..."
